With its new service, UniCredit is transferring the fast and simple international euros to several foreign currencies. In most cases, it can credit the funds to the recipient in seconds with competitive pricing and a simplified user experience.
This strategic partnership with Wise makes UniCredit the first solution in Italy to integrate foreign currency payment solutions directly into its mobile banking app.
From July 21, 2025, Unicredit’s Italian customers can quickly and easily send payments to recipients in selected countries including the United Kingdom (GBP), Switzerland (CHF), Hong Kong (HKD), Singapore (SGD) and India (INR), with more development currencies. Unicredit also plans to expand availability to other countries in the near future.
The program is based on the history of UniCredit’s pioneering payment solutions, including the introduction of embedded fx Conversions when paying with UC PayFX in over 120 currencies and advanced FX management and transaction monitoring through UC Payfx WebService.
“Our mission is to turn payments into an agile, borderless experience that can move with the speed and transparency of fintech.” Raphael Barisaachead of global payment and cash management at Unicredit. “Even when it comes to complex transactions such as international wire transfers, our customers want simple, fast and transparent solutions at affordable costs. The new service was created to meet these needs and represents a fundamental step in this direction.”
In the case where traditional banking products for international payments rely on a communications banking network (which takes time to process and can result in unpredictable costs), the new solution draws on Wise’s on-site presence and direct access to local payment systems to facilitate faster, more transparent processes.
